Carta del presidente
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is a true honour and privilege to address you as President of the Spanish Society for Neuroscience (SENC). Our community continues to grow in strength, creativity, and international visibility, and I warmly welcome each of you—longstanding members, students, and new colleagues alike—whose contributions make SENC such a vibrant and dynamic society.
Looking ahead to the next two years, our shared journey in SENC will focus on nurturing the next generation of neuroscientists through
training, mentoring, and opportunities for growth, while also strengthening our international ties and attracting new talent to enrich our community. We aspire to make SENC an ever more welcoming home for neuroscientists of all disciplines and career stages, embracing digital tools to stay connected and to engage more closely with society and policymakers on the challenges where neuroscience can make a difference. At the same time, we will continue to champion gender equality, ensuring that women scientists are fully visible and supported throughout their careers. And, with special pride, we look forward to hosting the FENS Forum 2026 in Barcelona, a unique opportunity to showcase the excellence, inclusivity, and innovative spirit that define Spanish neuroscience.
I invite each of you to take an active role in these initiatives. Your participation, ideas, and enthusiasm—whether as a senior researcher, an early-career scientist, or a student member—are essential to shaping the future of SENC and advancing neuroscience in Spain and internationally.
With warm regards,
Carlos Matute Almau
President, Spanish Society for Neuroscience (SENC)
