SENC Mentoring Program 3rd (2026-2027)

Are you unsure about how to approach the future as a scientist? At different stages of a scientific career, it can be difficult to find the support and advice needed when taking the next step or making an important decision. The Young Researchers Committee aims to facilitate access to information for researchers at different stages of their professional careers (both predoctoral and postdoctoral), encouraging them to learn from the experiences of people outside their usual circle who can provide guidance in exploring different career paths and professional development opportunities.

To this end, we present the new SENC Mentoring Program, which aims to connect PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with experienced professionals from different science-related fields, both within and outside academia, who are willing to share their career paths and knowledge. In addition, in this edition we will continue our collaboration with the SENC Women in Neuroscience Committee (WiNs, Women in Neuroscience) to provide more specific mentoring on the challenges women face in their academic careers.

• Take part in online mentoring circle sessions, where you will connect with scientists from different backgrounds and learn from their experiences and perspectives on a range of topics.
• Find your scientific mentor and build a relationship of trust that can guide you through the steps involved in future career decisions.
• Meet other mentors and mentees at the in-person event during the upcoming SENC 2027 Congress in Zaragoza (1-3 September).

Although a research career can sometimes feel overwhelming, being a scientist can be a highly rewarding and enjoyable experience with the right guidance. Don’t hesitate!
