Animal Welfare and Experimentation
Discover in a fun way why research with animals is necessary
Experimental animals, one of the protagonists of science
Scientists are the first interested in regulating, normalizing and minimizing the use of animals in animal experimentation. This Committee will inform, promote, debate and help all Spanish neuroscientists in this challenge, and to do so we will work together with our European peers.
DOCUMENTS AND REGULATIONS
In addition to the documents and regulations that we offer you at the SENC, you can consult on the website of FELASA, the Federation of European Associations for Laboratory Animal Sciences, different documents that can be useful to formalize requests to the Ethical Committees, choose animal handling courses, design animal experimentation protocols:
NC3Rsis a British national centre which offers support to any person working in animal research (scientists, technicians, vets, legislators, etc.) in three areas:
a) compliance with the 3 Rs,
b) experimental design which is as robust and reproducible as possible,
c) advice on animal welfare.
Visit their website at https://www.nc3rs.org.uk/.For advice on the design of experiments with animals from the Experimental Design Assistant (EDA) click
We invite you to consult the principles laid down in the Transparency Agreement on the use of animals in scientific experiments in Spain, proposed by the COSCE in collaboration with the EARA, and to which SENC has given its support.
