The International Brain Research Organization (IBRO) has dedicated one installment of its prestigious series “50 Reflections on Neuroscience” to Spain, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

The article presents an international perspective on the development of neuroscience in Spain, from the legacy of Santiago Ramón y Cajal to the consolidation of a modern, diverse scientific community with growing global impact. It also highlights key contributions that have positioned Spanish neuroscience prominently worldwide.

This publication represents a recognition of the collective effort of several generations of neuroscientists, as well as the current strength of the field and its future challenges and opportunities.
