Artist rendered image (Diego F Goberna http://feiss.be/ ) of the firing rate of a single ventral premotor cortex neuron during a visual discrimination task. Spikes are shown as butterflies flying from lower left to upper right corner. Binary decisions are encoded in higher (yellow/red) and lower firing rates (purple/blue). After the decision was reported (last front) the correct and incorrect outcomes of the decision are encoded in higher and lower firing rates. These results were reported by José Luis Pardo-Vázquez, Víctor Leborán and Carlos Acuña PNAS Nov 3, 2009/ vol. 106/ no. 44/ pp. 18815-18819Authors:

Optical projection tomography (OPT) scan of a TgNTRK3 brain, a mouse model of panic disorder, at postnatal day 0, stained for tyrosine hydroxylase.
The transgenic TgNTRK3 mice overexpress the high affinity receptor for neurotrophin 3 (TrkC) and has been validated as a model of panic disorder. Study of 3D structure and arrangement of fear-related brain regions may shed light on the pathogenetic mechanism of this psychiatric condition. Authors:
